The US sent the first ship to establish a sea corridor to Gaza

WASHINGTON, March 10 The United States sent a ship with equipment for the arrangement sea corridor for the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced.
US President Joe Biden previously ordered the Pentagon to build a temporary port for the delivery of humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip. At the same time, the American leader assured that there would be no US military in the enclave. Later, a Pentagon representative explained Biden’s initiative: the project involves the creation of a floating pier, where, presumably from Cyprus, cargo will be imported for subsequent delivery to the shore by small vessels. The US military will only be present on ships off the coast and will not set foot on the shore.

Previously, it was not reported about sending ships to develop the pier.

According to the command on the social network X, “On March 9, the US Navy ship General Frank S. Besson… left the Langley-Eustis base”, heading to the Eastern Mediterranean. The ship departed “less than 36 hours” after Biden’s announcement about the creation of a sea corridor, the command notes.
It is added that the ship is carrying equipment to create a temporary port for the delivery of humanitarian supplies to the enclave.
The Pentagon previously noted that the development of the sea corridor would require more than a thousand military personnel, and the entire operation would probably take up to 60 days.
