Another Hyundai Creta N Line crossover: one engine, but two gearboxes to choose from

The “sporty” SUV starts in India, where a new modification is offered with the most powerful engine, which is provided for the local Creta. At the same time, for the new product you can choose not only an automatic, but also a manual transmission.

The Indian division of Hyundai announced the “warmed-up” Creta N Line crossover at the end of February. Now we have held a full-fledged presentation, and at the same time “live” sales have started. Let us remember that in India the Creta has just undergone an alternative restyling — the local five-door is noticeably different from the modernized SUV presented in Southeast Asia, the Middle East and some Latin American markets.

The “sporty” cross in terms of design was also separated from the standard model. The Hyundai Creta N Line has its own grille, slightly more aggressive bumpers, a large spoiler on the tailgate and exposed dual exhaust pipes. In addition, the body kit has red inserts, and the brake calipers are made in the same color. And the new modification also gets original 18-inch wheels, while the regular Crete in India gets 16- or 17-inch wheels.

The interior features black trim, plenty of red accents and metal pedals, plus the Creta N Line gets a different steering wheel. There are two configurations to choose from. The list of standard equipment includes six airbags, dual-zone climate control, a rearview camera and a panoramic sunroof. The most expensive version also has a 10.25-inch virtual instrument panel and a multimedia system with a touchscreen of the same size (the Creta N Line has a simpler 8-inch screen), ventilated front seats, adaptive cruise control instead of the standard one, auto braking system, and lane keeping traffic and blind spot monitoring.

For Indians, the Hyundai Creta N Line is available with a top-end 1.5 petrol turbo-four with a power of 160 hp. But if the regular Creta with such an engine is offered only with a seven-speed robotic gearbox with two clutches, then the “sport” version also has a six-speed manual transmission. The standard crossover is also equipped with a naturally aspirated 1.5 MPI (115 hp) and a 1.5 CRDi diesel engine (116 hp): both engines are equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, for the gasoline engine you can choose a CVT, and for the diesel engine there is a classic six-speed automatic transmission. The Indian Creta comes exclusively with front-wheel drive.

The price of a “sports” crossover with manual transmission starts at marking 1,682,300 rupees (approximately 1,839,000 rubles at the current exchange rate), the model with 7DCT costs from 1,832,300 rupees (2,003,000 rubles). A regular Creta with a 1.5 turbo engine and a “robot” will cost at least 1,999,900 rupees (2,186,000 rubles).

Meanwhile, production of the Creta has recently resumed in Russia, along with it Solaris and the Rio family have returned to the assembly line, only now these are not Hyundai and Kia, but models of the new Solaris brand. It is curious that the crossover was also announced in the N Line version, which never managed to reach the Russian market under its native brand: our “sports” version is made in the likeness of the SUV for Brazil.
