Chechen student Said-Muhammad Dzhumaev, sentenced to five years in prison in the case of a clash with security forces (part 1 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code) at a rally on January 23, 2021 in support of Alexei Navalny, was transferred to a single cell-type room ( EPKT). His relatives told RusNews about this.
According to the publication, since February last year, Dzhumaev was under strict conditions of detention (SUS). Now the Chechen, as RusNews writes, “is completely isolated and has maximum limited rights.” What exactly became the reason for tightening the conditions of his detention is unknown.
Dzhumaev was detained on January 28 in the Pskov region, through which he planned to leave Russia. State Duma deputy from Chechnya Adam Delimkhanov offered to help the student “resolve the issue” if he renounced his opposition views.
For the first time, Dzhumaev’s case was considered in the spring of 2021 in a special manner; he was involved in the case under new name, taking the mother's surname, which is why the court press service did not report on the progress of the trial. Then in May, the prosecutor requested five years in prison for him. On the day of the verdict — August 19, 2021 — the judge decided to resume the trial in the general manner with an examination of the evidence. After this, the prosecutor's office asked for six years for him.
According to lawyer Murad Musaev, “the three injured law enforcement officers [in court] said that they had no claims against Dzhumaev.”
