MOSCOW, March 10 President of the Association of Banks of Russia (ADB) Georgy Luntovsky died at the age of 73, said the chairman of the association’s council, head of the State Duma Committee on financial market Anatoly Aksakov.

"I express my deepest condolences to family and friends. Georgy Ivanovich did a lot for the development of the banking system so that it was modern, healthy, strong, independent, thanks to which it <…> withstood the most stringent sanctions,” he said.
Luntovsky was born in 1950 in Kursk.
In 1996-1999 he was a deputy of the State Duma, where he was a member of the committee on budget, taxes, banks and finance.
From 1999 to 2005, Luntovsky served as deputy chairman of the Bank of Russia, then until the end of August 2017 — the post of first deputy chairman of the regulator. In September 2017, he headed the Association of Banks of Russia.
