MOSCOW, March 1 Special correspondent Vladimir Sychev received gratitude from the Russian Academy of Sciences for his significant contribution to covering the achievements of Russian science and in connection with the 300th summer anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The awards ceremony for media workers covering Russian science was held on Friday in the building of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The diploma and commemorative medal in honor of the 300th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences were presented to the journalist by the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Academician Gennady Krasnikov.
Domestic science today is working to fulfill the tasks of achieving the technological sovereignty of Russia, which is necessary for the development of the country and response to external challenges. The main priorities of the scientific and technological development of the Russian Federation are outlined in the corresponding strategy, the updated version of which was approved at the end of February by decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The strategy of scientific and technological development of the Russian Federation is equal in importance to the strategy of national security, the head of state previously emphasized.
The Russian Academy of Sciences was established by order of Emperor Peter I on February 8, 1724. The goals of the RAS are to conduct and develop fundamental research aimed at obtaining new knowledge about the laws of development of nature, society, man and contributing to the technological, economic, social and spiritual development of Russia; expert scientific support for the activities of government bodies and organizations; promoting the development of science in the Russian Federation; strengthening ties between science and education; dissemination of scientific knowledge and increasing the prestige of science.
