Porsche has introduced the top Turbo GT version of the Taycan electric sedan. The Taycan Turbo GT gets the best dynamic qualities with the optional Weissach package: acceleration to 100 km/h takes 2.2 seconds, top speed is 305 km/h.
In February of this year, Porsche presented the updated Taycan family of electric vehicles, but the premiere of the top version of the Taycan Turbo GT sedan was held separately. Last fall, the pre-production Taycan Turbo GT set a new Nürburgring record in the class of production electric vehicles: Porsche factory test driver Lars Kern drove the Taycan Turbo GT in the legendary Nordschleife in 7 minutes 07.551 seconds. Now, after the premiere, this time has been published in the official Nurburgring record table. The previous record in the class of serial electric vehicles, we recall, belongs to the Tesla Model S Plaid Track Package liftback — 7 minutes 25.231 seconds.

The Porsche Taycan Turbo GT and Lars Kern also have a record lap time among production electric vehicles at the Laguna Seca circuit in the American state of California — 1 minute 27.87 seconds. Laguna Seca is one of the most challenging circuits in the world for drivers and cars, and the Taycan Turbo GT's record time here should highlight the high limits of its chassis. Both records, at the Nurburgring and Laguna Seca, were set on a sedan with the Weissach package option.

The standard Porsche Taycan Turbo GT is all-wheel drive and features a twin-motor powertrain with maximum continuous power of 580 kW (789 hp). In Launch Control mode, where maximum acceleration is achieved, power increases to 760 kW (1033 hp) for ten seconds, and when the special Attack Mode is activated, power reaches 815 kW (1008 hp) for two seconds. The maximum torque of the power plant is 1340 Nm. Battery capacity — 105 kWh, range on one charge — 555 km in the WLTP cycle.

The Taycan Turbo GT is 5 kg lighter than the Turbo S version: weight is reduced due to carbon fiber elements of the aerodynamic tail of the body, carbon fiber frames of the front seats, the elimination of the electric trunk lid, lightweight wheels and lightweight brake mechanisms. Meanwhile, instead of spartan-looking carbon fiber buckets, you can get more comfortable front seats with a bunch of electrical adjustments at no additional cost, but the weight of the electric car with them will, of course, increase. The standard Taycan Turbo GT accelerates to 100 km/h in 2.3 seconds, to 200 km/h in 6.6 seconds, and top speed is 290 km/h.

With the Weissach package, Porsche's top-end electric sedan is even faster: acceleration to 100 km/h takes 2.2 seconds, to 200 km/h in 6.4 seconds, and top speed is 305 km/h. The Weissach package includes a more advanced aerodynamic body kit with a fixed rear wing (provides up to 220 kg of downforce), a cabin without a rear seat, lightweight sound insulation, a stripped-down audio system (no rear speakers), a manual drive for the charging hatch instead of an electric one — all this made it possible to reduce the curb weight weight by another 70 kg to 2220 kg.
