Aviation Major General Sergei Lipovoy named the possible cause of the Il-76 crash in the Ivanovo region. URA.RU writes about this.
According to the pilot, the reason for the plane crash could have been a hole in the fuel line.
Usually this model is capable of landing safely with two burning engines, the expert noted.< /p>
“Apparently, an emergency situation occurred in which the fire protection system of this engine failed,” explained the publication’s interlocutor.
The engine itself, according to him, could have caught fire due to technical leakage of the fuel line.
In this case, the hole works like a gas burner. The temperature is so high that it can easily burn out, melt or disable any thrust if it is located somewhere nearby, Lipovoy added.
Previously, military experts suggested that the engine of the Il-76 that crashed near Ivanovo could catch fire due to a rupture of the rotor part.
Recall that a military transport plane crashed this afternoon in the Ivanovo region. The Ministry of Defense named the cause of the disaster as a fire in one of the engines.
