The Kaluga District Court of the Kaluga Region arrested a 19-year-old student accused of preparing a terrorist attack, reports the joint press service of the regional courts.
In addition to the article about preparing a terrorist attack, the student is charged with manufacturing explosives (part 1 of article 223.1). According to investigators, the student planned to stage an explosion in the Kaluga District Court, which subsequently chose a preventive measure for him. He assembled the explosive device in the dormitory room, the press service said in a statement. The court arrested the young man for two months.
The Baza and Mash telegram channels reported about the arrest of the student on the morning of March 11, they named the student’s name — Danil S. According to the channels, the accused was a third-year student at the Kaluga branch of the St. Petersburg State Transport University.
According to telegram channels, in 2023 Danila S. converted to Islam, and the terrorist attack was going to be carried out in Ramadan. “The student’s main plan was to set fire or blow up the Kaluga District Court for religious reasons,” wrote Mash.
As Baza notes, components for preparing explosives were found in the student’s room: acetone, saltpeter, a bottle of electrolyte for acid batteries and boxes of matches with ready-made incendiary mixture. Mash claims that the student was recruited by radical Islamists, and “correspondence with the curator” was found on his phone.
