Audi is preparing a new generation of its D-class models, as well as the most powerful modification with the RS5 index, test samples of which were recently tested spotted by photo spies. What will it look like?
As we previously reported, the German brand is changing the naming system of its models, and now cars with odd numbers will have traditional internal combustion engines, and those with even numbers will have a fully electric powertrain. Accordingly, the new RS5 station wagon will replace the RS4 Avant model, the latest generation of which was presented in 2017 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and in the fall of 2019 the car received a restyling.

The design of the regular A5 station wagon is almost no longer a secret: it was spotted with virtually no camouflage, and we previously published renderings of it. As for the “ereski”, it will receive a number of noticeable differences from the standard model. First of all, as befits charged modifications from Audi, a feature of the RS5 will be noticeably widened front and rear wheel arches. Among the completely new parts are large air ducts in the front fenders. From the front, the most powerful station wagon can be distinguished by the original radiator grille, which will be located slightly lower and will receive a rhombic finish, as well as a pair of built-in radars in the lower part. In this case, the company logo will “go” a little beyond the outline of the grille. As for the rear, the main interest here is the oval exhaust pipes, which will be located much closer to each other.

The station wagon is expected to retain the 2.9-liter V6 biturbo petrol engine. On the current model it develops 450 hp. and 600 Nm of torque. The new RS5 needs to get better performance from a hybrid setup to compete with models like the new Mercedes-AMG C63 with its 680 hp. and 865 Nm of torque.
