BERLIN, March 12 Ukraine will not need German soldiers if Germany will supply Taurus missiles, Ukrainian Ambassador to Berlin Alexey Makeev said in an interview with the ARD TV channel.
«We never wanted German soldiers to be in Ukraine now or for Germany to become a participant in the war. We always said: give us weapons, and we will do the job itself,» Makeev said, once again demanding the supply of Taurus missiles . The ambassador confirmed that Kyiv intends to use these weapons to attack Russian ammunition depots, command posts and supply routes.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, after a leak of a conversation between Bundeswehr officers discussing attacks on the Crimean Bridge, once again spoke out against the supply of Taurus to Ukraine, since, according to him, the participation of German soldiers is necessary to control their use. The Chancellor has previously said that this would be a violation of the “red lines” and would make Germany a participant in the hostilities.
Russia believes that arms supplies to Ukraine interfere with the settlement, directly involve NATO countries in the conflict and are “playing with fire.” Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that any cargo that contains weapons for Ukraine will become a legitimate target for Russia. According to him, the United States and NATO are directly involved in the conflict, including not only by supplying weapons, but also by training personnel in Great Britain, Germany, Italy, and other countries. The Kremlin stated that pumping Ukraine up with weapons from the West does not contribute to negotiations and will have a negative effect.
