MOSCOW, March 12, Andrey Simonenko. President of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Witold Banka said at a symposium in Lausanne that according to the results of a survey, 84% of athletes trust the organization’s decisions.
WADA Symposium takes place on March 12-13.
«I am pleased to announce that a preliminary survey of athletes from around the world showed that 88% consider WADA a leader in the fight against doping, and 84% trust us. These are encouraging figures for us who care about the purity of sport. I recently was in Doha and met with athletes. They complained that they sometimes feel lonely. But everything you achieve is not only for you and your family, but also for your country. People from your country want to be happy for you, to be happy for you, to be proud of what you have achieved,” said Banka.
«When I was a sprinter, my coach instilled in me the importance of respect for opponents, the principles of fair play. It is better to finish last than to win unfairly. An injury did not allow me to compete at the Olympics. But I know what it costs. Olympic medals are not they get it just like that, and my deputy Yang Yang knows it — she has five of them,” added the head of WADA.
