MOSCOW, March 12 Over the past 24 hours, Ukraine launched a massive attack using 50 attack drones on civilian targets in Central Russia, overwhelming Most of the drones were neutralized, an emergency services spokesman said.
“Over the past 24 hours, 50 incidents involving Ukrainian attack drones, including kamikaze drones, were registered,” the agency’s interlocutor said.
According to him, the vast majority of UAVs were shot down with the help of air defense. The most attacks were recorded in the Kursk (20) and Belgorod (19) regions.
Some of the drones were suppressed with the help of electronic warfare: for example, four kamikaze UAVs were suppressed by electronic warfare over the Belgorod region, in particular in the Shebekinsky urban district. Another drone crashed before reaching an oil depot in the Pochinkovsky district of the Smolensk region.
Previously, the Russian Ministry of Defense and authorities in Russian regions reported 45 neutralized drones from the Ukrainian side over the past 24 hours; during Tuesday, several more drones were reported that attacked the Kursk, Belgorod and Rostov regions.
The Russian Ministry of Defense, in particular, reported that air defense systems destroyed 30 Ukrainian drones since the night: two drones over the territory of the Moscow region, one over the Leningrad region, seven over Belgorod, 16 over Kursk, one over Bryansk, one over Tula and two over Oryol. Another drone, as reported by the governor of the Voronezh region, Alexander Gusev, was destroyed early in the morning over Voronezh. Later, the authorities of the Belgorod region announced another attack by a Ukrainian drone. The mayor of the city reported about the UAV raid on Taganrog in the Rostov region.
On Tuesday morning, drones also attacked a fuel and energy complex facility in the Kstov industrial zone of the Nizhny Novgorod region, where a fire broke out at one of the oil refining units. A day earlier, on March 11, air defense systems on duty destroyed a Ukrainian drone over the territory of the Belgorod region. Four more drones were intercepted and destroyed over the Bryansk region and two over the Oryol region, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported.
