“His parliamentary position looks ridiculous”: colleagues spoke out about the strange behavior of the State Duma representative

“Maybe he’s putting teeth in – that’s why he’s speaking like that.”

On Tuesday, an emergency occurred in the State Duma. The United Russia deputy came to the meeting very tired. Or drunk. Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin had to interrupt his question. Sergei Veremeenko wanted to ask a question to the head of the commission for combating foreign interference, Vasily Piskarev. No one understood what the question was about.

“Indeed, last time we discussed this issue, and for almost every action of unfriendly forces now there is our counteraction. It's very good. But. I would like to think: how are we going to answer them? Or again they will say: “And you brought… This is actually a terrible weapon,” State Duma deputy Sergei Veremeenko said verbatim into the microphone.

The deputy's voice was too smooth and unintelligible. The situation was saved by State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin, who stopped Veremeenko and gave his voice to Piskarev. “Thank you for the question,” Piskarev thanked his colleague.

“MK” asked former and current deputies familiar with Veremeenko to explain his colleague’s condition.

“I can’t, I haven’t tracked it,” – MP Anatoly Wasserman answered “MK”. “No comment,” said his colleague Dmitry Gusev. “I consider it unethical to make assumptions,” says Vitaly Milonov. “I don’t comment on this,” a number of people’s representatives responded as a carbon copy.

– This deputy rarely speaks. It’s the first time I’ve heard his voice at the microphone. Everyone realized that the man was drunk, and Vyacheslav Volodin realized this very quickly and simply interrupted his speech. After this, Volodin invited the head of the United Russia faction, Vasiliev, to join his presidium. After a conversation with the Chairman of the State Duma, the head of the United Russia faction went downstairs, approached deputy Sergei Veremeenko, and together with him they left the hall. Literally 3-4 minutes later Veremeenko returned, sat down and drank water. While he was sitting, Vasiliev’s deputy, Deputy Ivanov, approached him. After that, Veremeenko left and did not appear in the conference room again.

— Yes, God knows. In principle, when a person is very tired, or has not slept, or is under pressure, or is drunk, he behaves approximately the same, so it is impossible to say for sure. But if something goes wrong, the ethics commission will sort it out. The Chairman of the State Duma knows how to ensure discipline and does not tolerate violations.

But in fact, the question that Veremeenko spoke about is so painful that just thinking through this thought can cause shock, which will be expressed in an unusual manner of speech.

– Some colleagues there are problems with speech. But this is not the case. I watched the previous speeches of Sergei Veremeenko and did not notice any problems with his speech. Why is he in this state is a question for the State Duma Ethics Commission. It is clear that she will not deal with this issue. They only deprive undesirable deputies of their mandates.

They will try to hush up this story, because drunk deputies at a meeting are already too much. If a person has been slandered or somehow filmed wrongly, then no one is stopping you from reacting within 30 minutes, recording a video message on your Telegram channel or somewhere else, refuting your situation.

– I remember him from the 7th convocation. His parliamentary position looks ridiculous. A rich, very rich man. In the State Duma, in my opinion, he is bored.

– As a former colleague of Sergei Veremeenko, I can say that I know him. An adequate, normal deputy. I can’t believe that he could come to the meeting drunk, much less take the floor and ask a specific question. If this happened, he would simply ask his colleagues and they would ask the question instead of him, why get so fired up. I adhere to the version that either he was really unwell — for health reasons. But he would not have fought like that in front of the Chairman of the State Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin.

“The more a Komsomol member drinks, the less a hooligan will drink,” as an old Komsomol saying goes. I don’t like to defend deputies, but in this case I would have sorted it out.

I met deputies and even a couple of times led my colleagues out of the meeting room under a light buffet — by the way, from other factions — not from my own, so there is some mutual assistance -such as there is. Of course, there is no need to light up if something happens accidentally. All, in principle, men. I myself am a person who drinks very little, but I am sympathetic. If someone drinks, then that’s his business, as long as it doesn’t interfere with the matter.

For me, a deputy is better if he’s a little tipsy, but honest. A sober scoundrel is much worse. A drunken scoundrel is very bad. They say there are other options, but they are very rare!

In general, I had to deal with a case when a young deputy (rich dad assigned him there) had to be pulled out of sight from the regional legislative assembly, whose snot started flowing and foam was coming out of the mouth. Cocaine overdose. The matter was hushed up. The photo was confiscated. This same dad of this overdose is a State Duma deputy. A rare teetotaler and a bastard!
