MOSCOW, March 12 In the medium term, PSB intends to triple its portfolio of projects to diversify enterprises of the military-industrial complex (DIC), said Deputy Chairman of the bank Anton Drozdov.
“Import substitution is a strategic task of technological sovereignty. It is emphasized in the President’s message to the Federal Assembly, where important goals are set: to increase the production of domestic high-tech products by one and a half times and the volume of non-resource non-energy exports by at least two thirds. Without import substitution, without use, including “It is impossible to achieve this with the high-tech base of the defense industry,” Drozdov noted, speaking at the fifth financial forum “Simply Capital”.
He pointed out that about 70% of all high-tech products today are produced at defense industry enterprises that have the appropriate capacities and competencies. On the other hand, the departure of Western companies has opened up new opportunities and niches for these enterprises. For example, in the field of medical equipment, power engineering.
“The potential of the defense industry plus new opportunities is the resource that now needs to be used. And given that 80% of defense enterprises are our clients, PSB pays very great attention to this area. We have formed a whole strategy for the bank’s participation in diversification and import substitution, setting the goal in the short term by two times, and in the medium term by three times to increase the portfolio of these projects,” explained the deputy chairman of the PSB.
He assured that today there is a “huge demand from the market” for civilian products of defense industry enterprises, which have become more competitive with the departure of Western players.
«Now that defense industry enterprises have been able to establish production within the framework of a significantly increased state defense order, they are beginning to return to the need to produce civilian products. I think that in the near future, including with our support, they will will actively implement these projects,” Drozdov said.
The bank's top manager added that work within the framework of such projects at the PSB site is carried out comprehensively, using all possibilities: state support, assistance from development institutions, financial and non-financial competencies of the bank itself, including a training program for defense industry enterprises.< br />
