Early voting took place at Russia's largest geothermal station

PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, March 13 Staff of the largest in Russia, a geothermal power plant operating at the foot of the Mutnovsky volcano in Kamchatka, took part in early presidential elections, the correspondent reports.
«Voting continues in remote areas of the Elizovsky district. Precinct election commission number 115 flew by helicopter to the Mutnovskaya geothermal power plant to conduct early voting for Kamchatskenergo employees,» said the secretary of precinct election commission number 15 Tatyana Kondratyuk.

At the Mutnovskaya geothermal power plant, located about 70 kilometers from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, about 70 people work on each shift. The shifts change every two weeks. You can only get here in winter by all-terrain vehicle or helicopter. Some station employees took part in in-person early voting, while others submitted documents for early electronic voting.

In total, according to the Kamchatka Election Commission, as of March 13, about six thousand residents of Kamchatka voted early. In particular, precinct election commissions visited all reindeer herding units, military outposts, meteorological stations and lighthouses located on the peninsula. At some sites, one person voted at a time, and members of the election commission got there by helicopter, for example, to the lighthouse of Cape Shipunsky and the weather station on Cape Krugly.
«On the fourteenth of March the early voting process will end. To date, out of 125 polling stations that were established on ships, 106 have already taken part in the elections. This ensured the voting process for more than five thousand people. About a thousand voters voted on the shore,» — said the chairman of the Kamchatka Territory election commission, Inga Irinina.
Also in Kamchatka, the acceptance of applications for participation in remote electronic voting has ended. About 44 thousand residents of the peninsula will take this form of voting. A total of 320 polling stations have been established on the peninsula. The results for the Kamchatka Territory will be announced together with all all-Russian precinct election commissions on March 17.
