Together with the brand and name, the model also changed its design. At home, the crossover is available only with a hybrid installation, while previously the manufacturer also certified the “traditional” version.
The Changan Uni-Z SUV was officially announced in early February of this year, but now preliminary prices have been announced in China and orders have been opened. Let us remind you that the model was not developed from scratch — it is a modernized Oshan Z6. Initially, the Oshan division, owned by the Changan company, produced simple cars and commercial vehicles, and in 2018 it was turned into a separate brand for prestigious cars. However, the “premium” is apparently over, because the Z6 became the third model that was transferred to the range of the parent brand: previously the Oshan X7 Plus and X5 Plus crossovers received the Changan emblem.

Changan Uni-Z is aimed primarily at youth audiences. External differences from the original Oshan crossover are a new radiator grille, front bumper and rear lights. You can enter the cabin using a facial recognition system: a camera is built into the frame of the left passenger door. Chinese specialized media write that the length of the model is 4730 mm, which is 31 mm longer than the Oshan Z6. Wheelbase – the same 2795 mm.

Inside, the front panel, steering wheel and door cards were replaced. In addition, a larger multimedia system tablet was installed in the center, and instead of the third screen — at the base of the windshield — there is now a luminous element, which the Chinese call a “battleship”: apparently, in this way they decided to play up the presence of a virtual assistant. The list of equipment also includes a panoramic sunroof, all-round cameras, a parking assistant, adaptive cruise control and a lane keeping system.

On the domestic market, the Changan Uni-Z crossover is available only as a rechargeable hybrid: the installation includes a 1.5 naturally aspirated gasoline engine (97 hp) and a 215-horsepower electric motor. The drive is exclusively front-wheel drive. The SUV received a battery with a capacity of 18.4 kWh; on electric power it will be able to travel 125 km (according to the CLTC cycle). Meanwhile, the model certificate also stated a “traditional” version with a 1.5 turbo-four producing 188 hp. – it is possible that a purely petrol SUV will be exported.

In China, Changan Uni-Z currently has only two configurations. For a basic cross, they are now asking 127,900 yuan, which is equivalent to approximately 1.6 million rubles at the current exchange rate. The second version will cost 134,900 yuan – that’s about 1.7 million rubles. “Live” sales at home will start in the near future. It is quite possible that the SUV will subsequently reach Russia.
