BERLIN, March 16 German Chancellor Olaf Scholz approved an investigation into the new leaks of information relating to Taurus cruise missiles.

Earlier, the head of the Bundestag Committee on Defense Affairs, Marie Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, said that she intends to initiate an investigation due to the leak to the media of classified information about Taurus missiles from a closed briefing of the committee.
The German portal T-Online earlier, with reference to one of the listeners of a closed briefing of the Bundestag committee on defense issues, reported that Berlin’s refusal to transfer Taurus cruise missiles to Kiev is due, among other things, to the fact that the effectiveness of these weapons directly depends on special accompanying devices, and supplying these systems to Ukraine may be contrary to German security interests.
Scholz said on Wednesday that he excludes the supply of long-range weapons systems to Ukraine, the use of which requires the participation of the German military, even if they are located outside Ukraine. Scholz has repeatedly opposed the supply of long-range Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine, despite pressure from the opposition and even some members of the ruling coalition.
