DUSHANBE, March 17, Lidiya Isamova. The Russian presidential elections in Tajikistan are taking place actively with a very high voter turnout, reports a correspondent from polling station number 8278, located in the Consular Section of the Russian Embassy in Dushanbe.
“The voter turnout at 10.00 local time (08.00 Moscow time) was about 2,000 people in two polling stations in Dushanbe and Khujand,” the head of the polling station, Russian Ambassador to Tajikistan Semyon Grigoriev, told reporters.
He thanked the citizens of the Russian Federation working and living in Tajikistan for actively responding to the call to come to the polls. “In the current international situation, these elections can be called fateful,” the ambassador said.
The line of people wishing to vote at polling station number 8278 in Dushanbe is not decreasing; it stretches for more than 100 meters. Voting takes place calmly, in a working environment, with 27 consulate and embassy employees working at the polling station.
No incidents were registered.
The Federation Council has scheduled presidential elections for March 17, 2024. Voting takes place over three days: March 15, 16 and 17.
Four candidates registered by the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation are vying for the post of head of state: Leonid Slutsky, Nikolai Kharitonov, Vladislav Davankov and Vladimir Putin.
