The Koptevsky District Court of Moscow sentenced an observer from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, anesthesiologist Vera Indienko, to 12 days of arrest. This is stated in the decision on the court's website.
Indienko was detained yesterday, March 17. Her friends emphasized that the doctor was raising her five-year-old daughter alone—in such cases, the Code of Administrative Offenses prohibits arresting mothers.
According to the court decision, Indienko was found guilty of demonstrating extremist symbols (Part 1 of Article 20.3 of the Administrative Code).
“[She] posted on her page in the "profile photo" his image, which depicts color symbols — in the form of a photograph with flowers white, blue, white, which is the official symbol of the Ukrainian organization Legion «Freedom of Russia», — the decision says.
The doctor said in court, that she really published this photo, but it was a long time ago, and it has nothing to do with the “Freedom of Russia” legion.
As for the child, according to the decision, Indienko said that she took her daughter to her parents. The court took into account the presence of a child as a mitigating circumstance.
In addition, the document contains a report from a patrolman who claims that Indienko was not on the list of observers from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, and in “the social network in Indienko’s correspondence there were words of a radical nature calling for committing arson and disruption of the electoral process.”
“After her behavior aroused suspicion, she attempted to leave the polling station, but was detained by police officers,” the report says.
The white-blue-white flag was conceived in the spring of 2022 as a symbol of Russians who do not support a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. In Russia, it is punished for being a symbol of the “Freedom of Russia” legion, an association fighting on the side of Ukraine.
