The German AfD party proposed restoring Nord Stream
The head of the right-wing German party Alternative for Germany (AfD), Tino Khrupalla, called for the restoration and resumption of work of the Nord Stream gas pipeline. He said this during a press conference in Berlin.
Khrupalla emphasized that the restoration of Nord Stream would be the right step, noting that such economic infrastructure should contribute to the development of Germany.
Kommersant previously reported estimated costs of $1.3 billion to repair the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipelines. This amount includes the cost of pumping water from the pipes, stabilizing them, repairing them and restoring lost gas reserves.
High gas prices and stable demand in the relevant market are expected to be preconditions for the start of repair work.
Recall that sabotage on the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 took place on September 26, 2022. The Russian Prosecutor General's Office has initiated a case regarding an act of international terrorism.
