The future new product of the German brand will be based on the AMG.EA platform. The prototype is now at the stage of winter road tests.
The Mercedes-AMG division is currently developing a new sports car; the German manufacturer is keeping its name secret for now. It is assumed that it will be created based on the Mercedes-Benz Vision AMG concept, which was presented in May 2022 a little later than the presentation of a fresh version of the model strategy, which received a focus on luxury.

Then it became known that Mercedes-AMG is developing a separate high-performance platform AMG.EA, which is intended for future electric sports cars, and its first-born will be the production version , which will be based on the Vision AMG concept. The debut of this “green” sports car is expected in 2025.
Now the future new product is at the road testing stage: official footage of the prototype, which is still far from the production version, was published on the brand’s press website. The prototype in the pictures is hidden using camouflage film, but it is expected that the head optics and lights of the production version will be different. It is expected that the product version will receive three-section headlights reminiscent of the Mercedes-Benz logo.
Mercedes-Benz Vision AMG Concept
It is assumed that the new product with a low stance, sloping roof and long hood will have a more sporty shape compared to the Mercedes EQS liftback. It is expected that the production all-electric sports car Mercedes-AMG will be equipped with an active aerodynamic element — a retractable spoiler at the rear.
As Kolesa.ru reported earlier, in the AMG.EA platform the battery will have a stepped rather than flat structure: it is expected that this will provide a solid capacity in combination with the lowest possible seating position for the driver and passengers. Electric motors for the power plant will be supplied by the British company YASA, owned by Mercedes-Benz: we are talking about units with axial flux — with greater efficiency and less weight compared to those motors in which the rotor is located inside the stator.

There is no official information about technical characteristics yet. According to preliminary data, the new production Mercedes-AMG sports car will have a total system power approaching 1014 hp. (746 kW). This result is significantly higher than that of the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4MATIC+ E Performance, whose hybrid installation produces 843 hp. (620 kW).
It is expected that the Porsche Taycan electric sports car will compete with the new Mercedes-AMG product. Let us remind you that last week the top version of the Taycan Turbo GT debuted. This electric car has a lightweight body, and the maximum output of its twin-engine power plant is 1108 hp.
