No one, including NATO, can give instructions to Georgia, the prime minister said

TBILISI, March 19. Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, commenting on the information that NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg could give instructions regarding the holding of the upcoming autumn elections during his visit to Tbilisi, said that no one can give instructions to Georgia.
NATO Secretary General was in Georgia on Monday.

“Georgia is an independent state, and no one can give it instructions, including not a single friend or partner,” Kobakhidze said, answering a journalist’s question whether he received instructions from Stoltenberg regarding the elections .

According to him, Georgia does not act according to objectives, but in accordance with its state interests. “As for advice and recommendations, we are ready to listen and take everything into account,” the prime minister added. He also said that the country's leadership is doing everything to hold free and fair elections in Georgia.

The Georgian Prime Minister noted the high level of partnership with NATO. “Yesterday we had unusual meetings with Mr. Stoltenberg. Then during dinner we continued to talk in a friendly manner on all topics related to the NATO-Georgia partnership… Of course, we will continue close cooperation and try to deepen these relations even further,” — Kobakhidze stated.
According to the Prime Minister, Stoltenberg’s visit and the meetings held give grounds for great optimism.
