The governor called for an increase in the number of engineers at the Pioneer mine after the emergency

BLAGOVESCHENSK, March 21 Governor of the Amur region Vasily Orlov recommended increasing the number of engineers to speed up work at the Pioneer mine, where the third day is under rubble 13 miners are blocked, the government of the Amur region reports.
A rock collapse at the Pioneer mine in the Zeya district occurred on Monday at 20.40 local time (14.40 Moscow time), since that moment 13 people have been under the rubble — employees of a contracting organization that specializes in mining and capital mining work. The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case. A regional emergency regime has been introduced in the Amur region.

The progress of rescue work at the Pioneer mine was discussed at a meeting of the emergency commission, which was chaired by Orlov. Now, according to the regional government, they are preparing to start drilling a second exploration well, which will help assess the situation in the blocked mine. The first installation “went” 54 meters out of 262 to the expected location of the miners. Over the past night, another 160 cubic meters of soil were removed from the buried mine. The pumping of water and pulp has been suspended, and no liquid is flowing in yet. There is no contact with the miners. 223 people were involved in the rescue operation, 111 were specialists from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the rest were employees of the enterprise.

The head of the region recommended increasing the number of engineering personnel who accompany drilling work.
“I consulted with specialists, their professional opinion is that there should be as many engineers on site as possible. Both the speed of work and the safety of rescuers largely depend on the level of competence of the personnel involved,” Orlov said.

Based on the recommendations of specialists from Kuzbass, places are being prepared in the mine for the installation of concrete lintels, which are necessary to protect rescuers from water and possible secondary collapse of the soil. They are preparing to erect waterproof lintels.

«Mine rescuers, divers, mine specialists and a group of engineers who arrived yesterday on a special Il-76 plane to the region are already working at the scene of the incident. A pump with a capacity of 800 cubic meters per hour, which is being transported from the Kemerovo region, is now moving through Krasnoyarsk region, the estimated arrival time is March 23,” the government clarified.
It is indicated that there are now enough forces and means to carry out a rescue operation at the scene of the emergency. Additionally, experts have prepared a list of reserve equipment that may be needed for rescue operations. Today it will be transferred to neighboring regions, which are ready to provide everything necessary. Relatives of two miners arrived in the region and remain trapped in the mine.
