WASHINGTON, March 21 Major military operation of the Israeli army in the city Rafah would be a mistake, and the United States does not support it, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Thursday.
«Our position is very clear: conducting a major military operation in Rafah would be a mistake, and we do not support it. Moreover, it does not is necessary to fight Hamas, which in turn is necessary,» Blinken said at a joint press conference with his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry.
He added that the United States intends to present its arguments and proposals on this issue in the coming contacts with their Israeli colleagues in the near future.
