BISHKEK, March 23 Kyrgyzstan's special services detained five members of a transnational organized crime group (OCG) who were planning an assassination attempt on the country's leadership, the press service of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) of the republic reported on Saturday.
“»In the course of organizing operational activities aimed at identifying and suppressing the illegal activities of organized criminal groups from among foreign citizens and persons possibly on the interstate wanted list, 5 citizens of Azerbaijan, who are members of a transnational organized crime group, came to the attention of the national security authorities of Kyrgyzstan : Aliev V.M., Baghirov S.A., Asgarov M.O., Bekhbudrv M.S. and Mammadov Z.I.,” said the representative of the press service.
According to him, the detainees are suspected of having arrived in Kyrgyzstan to organize an assassination attempt on the country’s leadership “in order to strengthen the criminal environment and spread thieves’ ideology, as well as increase their status.”
“Their criminal plans arose in connection with the state’s policy of active struggle against organized crime groups, which affected the entire post-Soviet space… and caused discontent among foreign criminal leaders,” the state committee clarified.
