The premium brand Hongqi, owned by the Chinese state-owned automaker FAW, this week completely declassified and launched the first model of the new NEV- line — the electric sedan EH7, it is offered with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive and three batteries to choose from.
Sales of the Hongqi brand have been growing steadily since 2018, when it entered the large Chinese market (previously Hongqi produced only nomenclature models that were not widely sold). In the first two months of this year, Hongqi, according to CAAM, sold 66,169 cars in China, which is 35.7% more than the result of January-February last year. Hongqi's success lies in the combination of historical prestige and a wide range of models, which even includes a bus.

Hongqi produces both traditional hydrocarbon models and NEV models. Let us remind you that the abbreviation NEV stands for New Energy Vehicle; it combines electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids and hydrogen vehicles. At the beginning of last year, Hongqi management decided to strengthen the NEV direction and created for it the sub-brand Hongqi New Energy with its own emblem: instead of a red stripe imitating a red banner, it uses two symmetrical silver squiggles reminiscent of boomerangs. The first bearer of the new emblem was the EH7 electric sedan, which entered the Chinese market this week. This model, however, also has “red banners”, but not on the front end, like other Hongqi, but on the front wings.
The EH7 differs from other Hongqi models not only in the new head badge, but also in the new approach to the design as a whole: it is not as monumental as other Hongqis, with cleaner lines and no chrome trim at all, as is now fashionable. Overall length of the Hongqi EH7 is 4980 mm, width is 1915 mm, height is 1490 mm, wheelbase is 3000 mm, ground clearance is 120 mm. The sedan is based on the new modular FME platform, which will later be used by other models of the Hongqi New Energy sub-brand.

The interior of the Hongqi EH7 is designed in a minimalistic manner and decorated with expensive-looking materials; there are no physical buttons on the front panel — only touch ones. The two-screen panoramic display resembles that of some recent Cadiilac models, but half of its area is de facto unused: the instrument screen is small, 6 inches, and the multimedia screen is 15.5 inches. The instrument screen is complemented by a color projector of operational readings on the windshield. In front of the center headrest there is a shelf with wireless charging for two smartphones. A 1.96 m2 panoramic transparent roof covers the entire interior. The volume of the main trunk is 400 liters; in front there is a small additional trunk in which it is convenient to store the charging cable.
Hongqi EH7 entered the Chinese market in five modifications. Basic EH7 600 Prohas a single electric motor on the rear axle (344 hp, 450 Nm) and a battery with a capacity of 75 kWh, a full charge of which is enough for 600 km of range (hereinafter along the CLTC cycle).
< p>EH7 690 Prois also single-engine (344 hp, 450 Nm), rear-wheel drive, but the battery capacity is increased to 85 kWh, the range on one charge is 690 km.

EH7 640 Pro+ has a dual-motor power plant and all-wheel drive: the maximum output of the front electric motor is 275 hp. and 306 Nm, rear — 344 hp. and 450 Nm, maximum total output — 619 hp. and 756 Nm. Cruising range on one charge — 640 km.
Version EH7 820 Pro single-engine (344 hp, 450 Nm), rear-wheel drive, with a battery capacity of 111 kW h and a power reserve of 820 km.
Top-end EH7 760 Pro+twin-engine (619 hp and 756 Nm), all-wheel drive, with a battery capacity of 111 kWh and a range of 760 km. This version is the most dynamic in the range: acceleration to 100 km/h takes 3.5 seconds. The maximum speed of all versions is limited to 190 km/h.

The price range in China is: the basic Hongqi EH7 600 Pro costs from 229,800 yuan (2.93 million rubles translated at the current exchange rate), for the top-end Hongqi EH7 760 Pro+ you need to pay at least 309,800 yuan (3.95 million rubles).
