On Wednesday, the EU Council and the European Parliament agreed on a new proposal to extend duty-free imports of goods from Ukraine for one year until June 5, 2025, during which added additional restrictions and the possibility of an emergency stop to the import of a number of agricultural products into the EU, including poultry meat, eggs, sugar, oats, corn, cereals and honey.
The protective mechanism involves, in particular, the introduction of duties on certain categories of goods imported from Ukraine, if their volumes exceed the average imports as of 2022-2023.
Later, French Agriculture Minister Marc Fenot said that Paris considers the mechanism to protect against excessive imports from Ukraine insufficient.
