MOSCOW, March 24 Head of Naftogaz Ukraine Alexey Chernyshov said that after explosions in western Ukraine, the ground infrastructure of one of the underground gas storage facilities was damaged.
Earlier on Sunday, Chernyshov reported damage to facilities in the west of the country after explosions.
“»As a result of a morning attack in western Ukraine, the ground infrastructure of one of the underground gas storage facilities of Ukrtransgaz was hit and technological equipment was damaged. Now work continues to localize and eliminate the consequences,» Chernyshov wrote on his page on the social network Facebook*.
According to him, there are no critical consequences for ensuring the operation of underground gas storage facilities; this will not affect gas supplies to consumers.
On Sunday, an air raid alert was declared throughout Ukraine. Later, Ukrainian media reported explosions in the Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk regions in western Ukraine. The head of the Lviv regional administration, Maxim Kozitsky, reported damage to a critical infrastructure facility.
The Russian Armed Forces began striking the Ukrainian infrastructure on October 10, 2022 — two days after the terrorist attack on the Crimean Bridge, which, according to the Russian authorities, was behind the Ukrainian special services. Strikes are being carried out against energy, defense industry, military command and communications facilities throughout the country. Since then, air raid alerts have been announced every day in Ukrainian regions, sometimes throughout the country. At the same time, the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov stated that Russian troops in battles with the Ukrainian Armed Forces do not attack residential buildings and social infrastructure.
