Permanent Representative to the WTO Platonov: the Russian Federation will not benefit from leaving the organization

Russia's Permanent Representative to the WTO Nikolai Platonov said that at the moment the voices of countries that do not belong to the Western camp are increasingly heard in the World Trade Organization.

He clarified that the WTO no longer serves Western interests to the detriment of the aspirations of other members.

“In recent years, the trend has changed. In particular, the voices of countries that do not belong to the Western camp have become increasingly louder in the WTO,” Platonov noted.

According to him, now this sound is not always united into a single voice, but it has become obvious that The times when the organization did not shy away from serving various “Western interests” to the detriment of the aspirations of other members are in the past.

The Permanent Representative added that Russia would not gain anything from leaving the WTO, since such actions would lead to the abandonment of more favorable conditions for access to the markets of many trading partners of the Russian Federation.

Among other things, Russia will lose the opportunity to influence the formation of multilateral trade rules.
