Now the history of the Audi R8 is officially over: the final copy of the model has rolled off the assembly line of the Audi Böllinger Höfe plant (Neckarsulm, Germany), Top Gear reports. According to the publication, its role was played by the Vegas Yellow R8 V10 Performance Quattro Edition coupe, this car received bronze wheels, as well as decorative elements made of carbon fiber.
It is known that the last Audi R8 sports car to roll off the assembly line will take its place in the museum of the brand’s products, forever remaining imprinted in the history of the brand. Note that the model had to be delayed on the assembly line due to the fact that dealers received many orders for it after the company announced its planned retirement.
Note that global sales of the Audi R8 coupe and spider in 2023 amounted to 1,591 units, which is almost 50% more than a year earlier. The peak year for this sports car over the last decade was 2017: then customers bought 3,068 copies.
Audi previously noted that the company continues to follow its “greening” strategy. Let us remind you that according to the plan, the R8 will not have a direct successor. At the same time, the “ringed” brand intends to release some kind of successor to the sports car in the future: it will have all-electric technology and, most likely, a different name. It is expected that it will be released in 2025.
