MOSCOW, March 26 The FSB prevented a terrorist attack in the Samara region; an accomplice of the Russian Volunteer Corps* («RDK»*) who was planning it blew himself up during his arrest, the intelligence service's central intelligence center reported.

“The FSB on the territory of the Samara region prevented a terrorist act planned by a Russian citizen, born in 1994, an accomplice of the terrorist organization Russian Volunteer Corps* (RDK*), operating under the patronage of the Ukrainian special services,” the department noted.< /p>
From 2022 to 2024, the attacker was publicly engaged in discrediting the Russian army. In September 2023, he was recruited by the Ukrainian special service through the mediation of one of the RDK* activists, Alexander Kudashev, born in 1982. At the same time, the man agreed to organize and carry out sabotage in Russia.
As the FSB said, at the direction of the curator, the attacker removed an improvised explosive device (IED) he had made from a cache in order to activate it in the building of a humanitarian aid collection point for one of the volunteer organizations.
“»When the attacker was detained, the IED he had seized self-detonated; as a result of which he received injuries incompatible with life. Security officials and the civilian population were not injured,» the special service noted.
At his residence address they found a laboratory for the production of explosives, components for their production, as well as another ready-made to the use of IEDs.
In addition, in his phone they found correspondence with his curator and materials confirming the involvement of the RDK* accomplice in “terrorist activities coordinated by the Ukrainian special services.”
A criminal case was opened regarding preparations for a terrorist attack. Security forces carry out operational search activities and investigative actions.
