The SUV, which is presented in its homeland as iCar 03, will be available under a different brand in some countries. The technology has been transferred from the original SUV.
The Jaecoo brand was created by Chery last year specifically for export markets, and the list of countries where it is represented includes Russia. Today the range includes two models – crossovers Jaecoo J7 and Jaecoo J8 (in some places it’s just Jaecoo 7 and Jaecoo 8, without the letter J). In their native China, these SUVs are sold as Chery Explore 06 and Chery Tiggo 9. So now the third SUV of a very young brand has been announced — the electric Jaecoo 6, its premiere was held in Thailand (it is logical that in some countries it will be the J6). And this again is not an original model: a different name was assigned to the iCar 03 cross. By the way, a separate iCar brand in Chery’s portfolio also appeared only in 2023; it has so far been launched exclusively in the Middle Kingdom.
If the J7 and J8 wear their own Jaecoo emblem, the “six” debuted only with new nameplates — the logo and nameplates are from iCar 03. And the steering wheel is located on the wrong side (in Thailand, driving is on the left). Apparently, the version intended for export is simply not ready yet. However, there is still time — at least in the case of the Thai market. There, the start of sales of Jaecoo 6 is scheduled only for the fourth quarter of this year.
Next to the Jaecoo 6 is the Jaecoo crossover 8. In Russia, the second SUV will appear with the index J8, and in China it is sold as Chery Tiggo 9
The dimensions of the cars are obviously the same. Length – 4406 mm, width – 1910 mm, height – 1715 mm, wheelbase – 2715 mm. The exterior features of the Jaecoo 6/iCar 03 are an angular body, narrow headlights with attached vertical sections of daytime running lights, vertical blocks of rear lights, retractable handles and a swinging tailgate with a box. In the cabin there are separate screens for the instrument panel and multimedia system. In China, the list of equipment may also include ventilation and a massager for the front seats, all-round cameras, adaptive cruise control, and a lane keeping system.

The top-end all-wheel drive Jaecoo 6 was shown in Thailand: such a crossover has two electric motors that together produce 279 hp. and 385 Nm. This version has a battery with a capacity of 69.77 kWh, a power reserve of 501 km according to the Chinese CLTC cycle. In the home market, the iCar 03 is also rear-wheel drive — with a 184-horsepower electric motor (220 Nm) and a 50.63 or 65.69 kW battery (range will be 401 and 501 km, respectively). A “medium” battery is also provided for the all-wheel drive model (472 km).
Chery has not yet said in what other countries besides Thailand the Jaecoo 6 will appear. It is possible that electrocross will eventually appear will reach the Russian market, although it is not certain that it will be under the Jaecoo brand.
