    MOSCOW, March 28 Flooding during the spring flood may affect the territories of just over half of the regions of Russia in seven federal districts, including the Moscow region , said the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation.
    “With the rapid development (sharp warming, massive melting of snow) of the spring flood and heavy precipitation during the period of its maximum, as well as the formation of powerful ice jams, there is a possibility of flooding of low-lying coastal parts,” the department’s response to the corresponding request says.

    It is noted that flooding may threaten Mordovia, Chuvashia, Udmurtia, Tatarstan, Bashkiria, Khakassia, Tuva, Buryatia, Yakutia, Crimea, Perm, Primorsky, Kamchatka, Transbaikal, Altai, Krasnoyarsk territories, Sakhalin, Omsk, Kemerovo, Tomsk, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk , Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk, Tyumen, Kurgan, Kirov, Samara, Orenburg, Leningrad, Novgorod, Arkhangelsk, Murmansk, Vologda, Kaluga, Vladimir, Moscow, Tula, Ivanovo, Ryazan, Smolensk, Bryansk, Kostroma, Yaroslavl, Tver, Volgograd regions, as well as the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug.

    According to the department, the occurrence of the flood is mainly predicted in March-May, as well as in the first ten days of June.
    Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that large-scale reserves of snow could complicate the passage of spring floods in a number of regions of Russia. More than 4.3 thousand settlements may be in risk zones. A force of about 840 thousand people and 210 thousand pieces of equipment, including 350 aircraft, has been prepared to combat the flood. 755 ice-damaging areas have already been identified in river areas, and measures to weaken and undermine ice have been planned in 419 areas.
