Ukraine received a tranche as part of a loan from the World Bank

MOSCOW, March 29 Ukraine received a tranche of 1.5 billion dollars as part of a loan from the World Bank, Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said on social networks.
““Ukraine received $1.5 billion from the World Bank as part of a Development Policy Loan,” Shmygal wrote on his page on the social network.
According to the Prime Minister, almost a million dollars was provided Japan, about 500 thousand more — Great Britain. As Shmygal stated, the funds will be used for budget expenditures for social and humanitarian needs.

In March, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Budget Committee Roksolana Pidlasa reported that Ukraine had allocated almost half of its $87 billion annual budget to defense spending, but its domestic revenues amounted to only $46 billion. The deficit is expected to widen further due to the expected wave of mobilization, as billions will be needed to pay, train and equip conscripts.

As Ukrainian parliamentarian Alexandra Ustinova previously stated, holes in the state budget are being closed with the help of Western funding; if assistance from the United States is stopped, the authorities will be forced to turn “with an outstretched hand” to the G7 countries. At the end of November, Vladimir Zelensky signed a draft law on the state budget of Ukraine for 2024 with a deficit of more than $43 billion.
