MOSCOW, March 31. The statement by Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen that she does not rule out sending troops from Western countries to Ukraine is empty words, said the first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, Alexey Chepa, in an interview with Lenta.ru.
«Statement by the head of the Foreign Ministry Finland is political and stupid PR, nothing more,” he said.
Chepa said that last week the Duma delegation led by Deputy Speaker of Parliament Pyotr Tolstoy was in Switzerland, where foreign representatives and European parliamentarians constantly approached them, declaring that they did not share the point of view of Western leaders on sending troops to Ukraine.
Commenting on Macron’s statements, the Kremlin warned that such a development of events will inevitably lead to a direct military clash between Russia and the North Atlantic Alliance.
How President Vladimir Putin emphasized in an interview with journalist Dmitry Kiselev that the introduction of a European contingent into Ukraine will not change the situation on the battlefield in any way and will only lead to dire consequences for the Kyiv authorities.
