Municipal deputy Alexei Gorinov, convicted in the case of military “fakes,” was placed on preventive registration in the colony as prone to suicide and self-harm. This was reported in a telegram channel in support of the politician.
As Gorinov’s support group said, the deputy himself is now in the hospital at IK-3 in Vladimir, where he was undergoing treatment. In the near future they plan to transfer him to IK-2 in Pokrov, where he will serve his sentence in a criminal case.
At the same time, shortly before his discharge from IK-3, Gorinov was registered as prone to suicide and self-harm without explanation; the colony staff referred to operational data classified as “top secret.”
“Since I love myself too much, value you and perceive life as a gift from the Universe, I want to assure everyone that I will never, under any circumstances, voluntarily take my life. Besides, I still have a lot of important things to do in my freedom and big plans. Please keep this in mind in case something similar happens to me,” the politician commented on the incident.
In July 2022, Gorinov was sentenced to seven years in prison because of an anti-war speech at a meeting of municipal deputies of the Krasnoselsky district of Moscow. He was found guilty of spreading “fakes” about the army motivated by political hatred (clause “d” of part 2 of article 207.3 of the Criminal Code). Later, a case was opened against him for justifying terrorism (Part 1 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code) because of his conversations with cellmates about the Ukrainian Azov.
As Gorinov’s associates reported, the politician is “in very bad condition” due to for health problems — back in 2016, the deputy had part of his lung removed due to a chronic disease. After being taken into custody, Gorinov’s health deteriorated greatly — in the colony he complained of bronchitis, lack of strength and high temperature.
In early December, the deputy’s lawyer reported that Gorinov had blue skin and had difficulty sitting in a chair. Despite his health problems, the politician was taken out to clear snow, was not given proper medical care and was deprived of sleep, checking him every two hours at night. In addition, Gorinov was placed in a punishment cell several times in the colony.
In February 2023, the European Parliament condemned the mistreatment of political prisoners in Russian colonies and demanded the release of those who were persecuted for criticizing the war in Ukraine. In particular, the European Parliament demanded the release of Alexey Gorinov.
