The film is the debut full-length film by director Ilya Malanin.

“I was faced with an interesting task: to tell a story about a pianist in an exciting way. With a strong dramaturgy of the hero and without focusing on classical music. There was uncertainty about how well it would be possible to do this, in a spectator’s way,” he admitted.

The role of Yuri was played by the star of the films «Arrhythmia» and «The Righteous» Alexander Yatsenko.
“
"Our film is about children and parents, about how important it is to feel when it’s time to let the child go, and about whether it makes a difference whether you are the father or not, if your feelings “real, fatherly,” explained the actor.
Chinese actress Xu played in the film Shiyue. Several years ago she studied in St. Petersburg, but before filming she had to actively restore her knowledge of the Russian language. The actress admits: she has a special connection with Russia and it was a pleasure to work with the team.
«
“The group’s very attentive and meticulous attitude towards filming made a deep impression on me. I remember that on the first day of shooting, the actors had to measure the sleeves of their clothes so that the length would not be different in the next scene. Such a serious and strict approach is worth learning,” noted Xu Shiyue.
Part of the filming took place in Shanghai in the summer of 2023. «Deranged» became the first foreign film project in China after the end of the pandemic.
The Chinese part of the film crew consisted of more than 300 people.
“»In China they treat filming in a special way, for them this is a huge event,” said Alexander Yatsenko «The first and last days of filming were accompanied by solemn ceremonies. On the first day, everyone prayed to the wind, the sky, the earth, and scattered fake spikelets. And after filming, they just organized a grandiose feast for us.»
«The Tales of Hoffmann»: a story about insecure people
«
“My mother had a favorite expression when I tried to lie to her: “Just don’t tell Hoffmann’s tales!” — explained screenwriter and director Tina Barkalaya. “In the film, I decided to tell an absolutely real story, but in a fabulous way.”
The beginning of the 2000s. An inconspicuous Muscovite Nadezhda Strakhova (Ekaterina Vilkova) is married to a provincial Vitalik (Maxim Stoyanov), who seemed to do her a favor for the sake of a typical Khrushchevite apartment. To support her small family, Nadya works in the mornings at the district library and in the evenings in the theater wardrobe. The owner of the next coat, Garik (Evgeny Tsyganov), is a man from the world of advertising and cinema. He notices that Nadya has very beautiful hands with incredible plasticity. This unexpectedly changes the heroine’s life.

"Despite the fact that the main character in our story is a woman, it is still about people who are insecure, including both Vitalik and Garik. This insecure person, as a rule, lives in each of us. Some people cover it with external confidence, others don’t,” says actress Ekaterina Vilkova.
The hands that became the center of the plot belong to the actress herself. “At some point they called in an understudy for the hands. But it turned out that our Katya’s hands are much better,” noted Tina Barkalaya.
“Flying Ship”: old songs for a new one lad
The authors of the family fairy tale “The Flying Ship” were inspired by the Soviet cartoon of the same name by Harry Bardin.
The plot is roughly the same: the king (Leonid Yarmolnik) is going to marry off his daughter Zabava (Ksenia Traister) to her disliked Polkan (Andrey Burkovsky). Only here he is not old, good-looking and called “Paul” in the foreign manner. In addition, the only heir of the rich man (Fyodor Dobronravov). But the princess likes the simple sailor Ivan (Alexander Metelkin).

Preparation for filming, according to director Ilya Uchitel, took a year and a half, and the script was rewritten three times. The actors were selected no less carefully. For example, auditions for the role of Ivan Alexander Metelkin lasted ten months. Ksenia Traister was also not immediately approved as Fun.
In general, the film took more than three years — a lot of time was needed to edit shots with complex effects. The final battle scene was staged a year apart in three different places — in pavilions and on location. During the editing there were frames from five layers.
“
"The flying ship was filmed in the scenery. It was necessary to make it look like he was in motion. Characters filmed in a chromakey pavilion are flying around, people are climbing from below (they were filmed on location),” said Ilya Uchitel.

Songs beloved by many generations to the music of Maxim Dunaevsky sounded in a new way . They were supplemented by such hits as “Hop Hey Lala Lay” and “At the Dawn.”
“
"We wove songs into the story that are almost as recognizable as from a cartoon, and rearranged them in the style of our film,” explained the director.
Actress Anna Peresild sang for Zabava, and rapper Feduk sang for Ivan.

«»Fyodor Dobronravov and I were lying at the feet of Ilya and they asked for ditties or a dance, but he didn’t allow it. He said that he didn’t want the viewer to leave the picture before its end,” joked Leonid Yarmolnik.
Whose vocals did not need to be duplicated was Lady Jane: she played this role Polina Gagarina. She had to spend eight hours in a cage, so now the singer is not afraid of even the astronaut centrifuge.
During filming, Alexander Metelkin became a father. He named his daughter after the main character — Zabava.
