The Bataisky City Court of the Rostov Region fined blogger Nelly Stefan 60 thousand rubles because of a stream on the social network “Friend Around”, in which she called the Russian military “cannon fodder”. Mediazona was informed about this by the press service of the court.
Stefan, who at the end of March broadcast under the pseudonym Nelly Khomyachkova, was found guilty under protocols for “discrediting” the army and spreading insults on the Internet (Part 1 of Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses and Part 3 of Article 20.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) — For each of them, the girl was fined 30 thousand rubles.
The reason for the first protocol was Stefan’s statements about Russian military personnel:
“I consider you cannon fodder, I don’t respect you, because you go (to fight — MZ) in order to die, you are fucking meat. Why do you live? <…> Do you want to die? What are you fighting for? What are you fighting for? Why can't you make friends with America, why can't you admit that you're wrong and just say «sorry»? Excuse us, Ukrainians, we are withdrawing all [troops]. Are you feeling weak? The second fine, according to the court press secretary, was imposed on Stefan for swearing in the video.
On the morning of March 22, employees of the Investigative Directorate for the Rostov Region reported that they had organized a pre-investigation check due to “public insulting statements addressed to members of the Investigative Military District, fulfilling their military duty to protect citizens.” A few hours later, the Don Mash telegram channel wrote that Stefan was detained and taken to the Investigative Committee.
The court made both decisions on administrative cases on March 26. At the same time, Don Mash and other public sites showed a video of Stefan’s apology.
“I'm very sorry for what I did. I streamed in this state, I had a lot of emotions. <…> But, you see, to everyone who thinks that I wanted to say something there to the fullest extent of Ivanovo, that I hate the SVO… I’m generally such a person — I love the world. I like animals, I like people. I said this because I want there to be peace on earth, so that there are no such wars. I take pills, I have epilepsy <…> Sometimes I get overwhelmed,” she says in the video.
