YAROSLAVL, April 2The governor of the Yaroslavl region, Mikhail Evraev, said in his Telegram channel that the families of those killed in an accident at a crossing in Pereslavl-Zalessky will receive compensation.
«We decided to pay compensation to the families of those killed in an accident at a crossing near the village of Berendeevo. Seven people became victims of the tragedy — passengers and the bus driver,» wrote Evraev.
Previously, the mayor of Pereslavl-Zalessky, Dmitry Zyablitsky, also announced his intention to make payments to the families of the victims. The Russian Railways holding company (RZD) announced that it will pay 3 million rubles to the relatives and friends of those killed in an accident at a crossing.
According to the Northern Railway, on April 1 at 14.36 Moscow time, at a controlled railway crossing between the Shushkovo and Berendeevo stations of the Northern Railway in the Yaroslavl region, the bus driver drove onto the tracks in front of the approaching passenger train No. 15 with the Arkhangelsk — Moscow route. The train driver applied the emergency brake, but a collision could not be avoided.
On Tuesday, the RF Investigative Committee reported that as part of the investigation into a criminal case involving a collision between a train and a regular bus, a track fitter acting as a railway crossing duty officer was detained. According to preliminary data, the detainee turned off the automatic barrier of the crossing, freeing passage for the bus. A medical examination of the man showed that he was drunk. It is also noted that he admitted guilt and wrote a confession.
Seven people died in the accident — the bus driver and six passengers. The administration of Pereslavl reported that all the dead were local residents.
