Head of the Central Committee for the BR: The Armed Forces of Ukraine use hidden radio beacons on drones to determine the locations of Russian troops

Dmitry Kuzyakin, General Director of the Center for Integrated Unmanned Solutions (CCBR), said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have begun to use hidden radio beacons on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to identify locations of Russian units.

According to Kuzyakin, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are installing autonomous boxes with LoRaWan filling on drones, which are not connected to anything, but are attached tightly to drones. As the expert noted, the Ukrainians use this technique to detect the locations of units of the Russian Armed Forces.

The General Director of the Central Design Bureau noted that initially the beacons were used to detect fallen drones, but later their purpose changed. Kuzyakin explained this by saying that Russian military personnel often pick up fallen or downed drones and take them to strong points. Kuzyakin clarified that the device is autonomous, receives GPS and sends rare but powerful packets via LoRaWan.

The expert added that the radio beacon is capable of transmitting a signal for a long period and over long distances. The head of the Central Committee of the Russian Federation warned that because of this, trophies in the form of Ukrainian drones could result in attacks on strongholds.
