IT specialists again began trying to leave Russia
The demand of Russian IT specialists for programs for obtaining residence permits in European countries is growing rapidly: in the first quarter alone, there was an increase in requests by 233%, according to analysts. France has become the most popular destination. Experts note interest in domestic IT specialists abroad, despite the political situation. HR specialists indicate that highly qualified specialists are leaving, including in order to maintain their skills in conditions of isolation in their native market.
The consulting agency Garant In reports a sharp increase in the demand of Russian IT specialists for programs for obtaining residence permits in Europe at the beginning of 2024: the number of requests increased by 233% compared to the previous year. France remains the most popular choice, attracting around 80% of searches, with Italy another 10%.
Garant In CEO Andrey Boyko notes that half of the requests for residence permits come from IT specialists. France offers attractive conditions without requiring residency or investment, just proof of income. While other countries are reducing available programs for Russians, the demand for migration remains high, writes Kommersant.
Experts emphasize that Russian IT personnel remain in demand abroad, despite the geopolitical situation. Many specialists worked for foreign companies or their branches in Russia and are transferred abroad. At the same time, with the increasing number of individuals seeking assistance in relocation, it becomes clear that ease of legalization and low taxes matter when choosing a country to move to.
The Russian IT market is becoming increasingly isolated, and many specialists seek to leave in order to maintain their competencies and work in the global community. Government support for the IT sector in Russia is high, but some experts fear changes in legislation and restrictions, which stimulate interest in migration.
