The court dismissed proceedings against one defendant in the case of importing icons with explosives into Russia
The proceedings against one of the defendants in the criminal case of transporting Orthodox icons stuffed with explosives from Ukraine to the territory of the Russian Federation, Khochbar Dzhamalov, have been terminated.
The second person involved, Dmitry Gratia, is also known — he has both Russian citizenship and citizenship of a foreign state. But the number of defendants in this case was not officially announced.
FSB officers, as it became known recently, found church utensils and icons along with foreign-made explosives in a car that was trying to cross a section of the Latvian-Russian border. According to estimates, the amount of RDX seized would be enough to blow up a five-story residential building.
The contraband, according to preliminary data, was going to be delivered to Moscow from Ukraine through European countries.
