
MOSCOW, April 4 The documents submitted for the distribution of Guy Ritchie’s film “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Affairs” did not meet the requirements of the rules for issuing a distribution certificate, the press confirmed service of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
Earlier, the Volga film distribution company reported that the film “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Affairs” did not receive a distribution certificate from the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation for the selected date — April 25. The press service of Kinopoisk noted that in the subparagraph specified in the notification, one of the reasons for the refusal may be the presence of errors in the documents submitted to obtain a distribution certificate, as well as the fact that several similar films are being released on the premiere date chosen by the licensor.
“The film “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Affairs” (dir. Guy Ritchie) did not receive a distribution certificate both for screening in cinemas and for online screening due to the fact that the submitted documents did not meet the requirements of subparagraph “e” of paragraph 18 of the Rules for issuance and refusal in the issuance and revocation of a film distribution certificate, approved by Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 143 of February 27, 2016. Notification of the refusal was officially sent to the applicants,” the statement says.
The Ministry also confirmed that they had already received a number of letters from Russian producers indicating that the country’s cinemas had already set dates for other films that had been released earlier by the Ministry ungentlemanly affairs.»
The film was created with the participation of Plus Studio. The main role in the film was played by Henry Cavill. The plot centers on a special service that was created in Great Britain during World War II to fight the Nazis.
The film was supposed to be released in Russian theaters on April 25. This is Ritchie’s first film that did not receive a distribution certificate: his previous projects, “Operation Fortune: The Art of Victory,” were legally released on big screens in 2023, which is recorded in the registry of film distribution certificates.
