
MOSCOW, April 4 Relevant Committee of the Federation Council and the chamber itself will consider the candidacy of Irina Podnosova for the post of chairman of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation as soon as the corresponding document arrives at the chamber, a source in parliament said.
The Commission under the President of the Russian Federation recommended that Vladimir Putin submit Podnosova’s candidacy to the Federation Council for appointment as Chairman of the Supreme Court, a source in the commission previously reported.
“As soon as the document is officially received by the Federation Council, it will definitely be considered; this is the procedure provided for by both the regulations and the constitution,” the agency’s interlocutor said.
On Monday, the High Qualification Board of Judges (HQJC) unanimously recommended the candidacy of Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation Podnosova for the post of Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation. Podnosova is the only candidate who has submitted documents for the position. The VKKS announced the opening of a vacant position on March 1 after the death of Vyacheslav Lebedev, who had headed the RF Armed Forces since 1991.
Podnosova graduated from the Faculty of Law of the Leningrad State University named after Zhdanov in 1975. She has been working as a judge since 1990, in 2020 she headed the Judicial Collegium for Economic Disputes of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation.
