MOSCOW, April 6 The head of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, Alexander Bastrykin, ordered the presentation of a report on the investigation of the criminal case initiated after a domestic gas explosion in Dagestan, where he died a child and two people were injured, the department’s Telegram channel reported.
On Friday, a gas exploded in a two-story private residential building in the city of Izberbash. A married couple and their seven-year-old son were injured. The Republic's Ministry of Health reported that after emergency assistance was provided at the city hospital, they were taken in serious condition to the burn center of the Republican Clinical Hospital in Makhachkala. On Saturday, the press service of the regional Ministry of Health reported that the child had died.
«The head of the department instructed the head of the Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Dagestan, D.V. Belyaev, to submit a report on the progress of the investigation of the criminal case and the established circumstances,» the message says.
Based on the incident, a criminal case was opened regarding the provision of services that did not meet safety requirements, resulting in negligence in causing grievous harm to health (clause “c” of Part 2 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). According to the investigation, the explosion of the gas-air mixture followed by ignition occurred due to a domestic gas leak on the basement floor of the house.
