YAROSLAVL, April 8 A criminal case was opened after the collapse of an overpass with several cars in the Smolensk region, reports the SUSK of Russia for the region.
«Investigative bodies of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Smolensk Region have opened a criminal case into the collapse of the bridge in Vyazma,» the message says.
According to SUSC, on Monday at about 17.00, an overpass connecting two microdistricts in the city of Vyazma collapsed.
«As a result of the collapse, several cars moving on the bridge fell down. There is a fatality, the number of victims is being clarified,» the message says.
It is reported that investigators from the Investigative Committee, together with forensic investigators from the regional investigative department, went to the scene of the incident.
«Currently, it is being examined, all necessary documentation relevant to the criminal case is being confiscated, examinations are being ordered, eyewitnesses and other persons are being questioned, a set of investigative actions are being carried out aimed at establishing all the circumstances, as well as the causes and conditions of what happened» , — informs SUSC.
The overpass collapsed in the city of Vyazma, Smolensk region on Monday, when, according to the regional emergency department, there were cars and trucks on it. The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations clarified that during the incident one person died and five were hospitalized.
