MOSCOW, April 8 Police detained a suspect in the arson of the memorial in New Moscow, where flowers were brought after the terrorist attack in Crocus City Hall, said the head of the capital's main department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Vladimir Vasenin, whose words are given on the department's website.
“On the night of April 5, 2024, on the territory of New Moscow, an arson was committed at a memorial dedicated to participants in local conflicts. <…> During a complex of operational search activities, a suspect was identified and detained. He turned out to be a 49-year-old local resident,” — says the publication.
A case has been initiated under the article on the destruction or damage of military graves, as well as monuments, steles, obelisks, other memorial structures or objects perpetuating the memory of those who died defending the Fatherland or its interests or dedicated to the days of military glory of Russia.
The administration of the Desenovskoye settlement spoke about the burnt spontaneous memorial dedicated to the victims of the terrorist attack in Crocus. Later they clarified that the foundation stone had been put in order.
Terrorist attack in Crocus
Shooting and fire in the Crocus City Hall concert hall in Krasnogorsk occurred on the evening of March 22. Several men burst into the building, they shot people at point-blank range and threw incendiary bombs. According to the latest data from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, 144 people died in the attack.
Eleven defendants were arrested in the case, including four citizens of Tajikistan, who, according to the Investigative Committee, were the direct perpetrators of the terrorist attack. In addition, on April 1, four foreigners were detained in Dagestan who participated in financing and providing weapons to the criminals who attacked Crocus.
Last Thursday, security forces detained three more Central Asians suspected of involvement in the terrorist attack in Moscow, Yekaterinburg and Omsk.
