The Basmanny District Court of Moscow arrested in absentia ex-deputy of the Sami Parliament of Norway Sandra Eira, who after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine joined the International Legion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, information about this appeared in the database of the capital’s courts.
In Russia, Eira is accused of being a mercenary (part 3 of Article 359 of the Criminal Code). According to Mediazona, the former deputy has been on the wanted list of the Ministry of Internal Affairs since October 2023.
Eira was a member of the Norwegian Sámi Parliament for the Avjevarri constituency from 2017 to 2021. Before the war in Ukraine, the girl was engaged in fishing.

In January, the Basmanny District Court arrested in absentia 28-year-old Finn Topi Huhtal, who commanded the Scandinavian platoon Team Wiking, which was engaged in reconnaissance and participated in combat operations.
A 41-year-old man was also placed under arrest in absentiaDavid Rurua and a military man from Latvia, Atvarse Anins. The latter in 2022 on his Facebook described his experience of participating in the “Foreign Legion” of the Ukrainian army. All of them are also accused of mercenarism (Part 3 of Article 359 of the Criminal Code).
In December, two more Ukrainian Armed Forces volunteers from Latvia were arrested in absentia under the same article — Seimas deputy Juris Jurashs and wounded Alvis Luksa. The same decision was made regarding four members of the Georgian Legion.
