MOSCOW, April 9 The «Coffee with Sandwich Index» («Buterbrodex»), reflecting the picture of Russians' consumption of popular breakfast products, decreased in the second half of March by 4.4 points and amounted to 128.7 points.
The index was developed on the basis of data exclusively provided to the agency by specialists from the large analytical resource «Check Index». The “basket” for its calculation included seven goods — frequent guests on the morning tables of Russians: loaf (400 grams), ham (200 grams), butter (180 grams), cheese (200 grams), cucumbers (500 grams), instant coffee (95 grams), sugar (1 kilogram).
For products from this consumer “basket,” Check Index analysts regularly calculate aggregated impersonal sales indicators (average check). The base 100 points are taken as the value of the “Coffee Sandwich Index” in the period from October 1 to October 15, 2022. Its change corresponds to the arithmetic average of the dynamics of the average bill for each of the seven goods.
So, from March 16 to March 31, the average bill decreased for all items: for cucumbers — by 12.5% to 161 rubles, for ham — by 5.3%, to 196 rubles , for sugar — by 4.8%, up to 59 rubles, for coffee — by 3.5%, up to 191 rubles, for loaves — by 2.5%, up to 39 rubles, for cheese — by 1.5%, up to 201 rubles, for butter — by 0.6%, up to 165 rubles.
Thus, the index decreased by 4.4 points compared to the previous two-week period — to 128.7 points.
