MINSK, April 9 President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko stated that the republic should develop the production of small arms.
““We always need these weapons. And we must produce them,” the Belta news agency quotes Lukashenko as saying.
«»There is no need to rely on anyone. It will be a game of politics. Like Ukraine. We relied on the Americans, on Western Europe. Today there is no ammunition or not enough. President Zelensky sits and says: “If you give us If you don’t give me (weapons — ed.), tomorrow Ukraine will collapse, and Lukashenko and Putin will go to Europe.» It scares them,» Lukashenko continued.
He recalled that he set goals for the development of the production of small arms and ammunition in the country even before the start of the conflict in Ukraine, and this requirement, as time has shown, is very relevant.
According to the president, during military operations it is impossible to do without small arms. “So that it doesn’t happen to us that we sit and rely on someone, we need to observe the war and draw appropriate conclusions, and produce these weapons… The war in Ukraine showed that without elements of counter-battery warfare, without unmanned aerial vehicles and without an electronic warfare system it is impossible to protect the country,” the Belarusian president emphasized.
According to him, the events in Ukraine show that “not only and not so much high-precision weapons solve the problem.” “Ordinary grenade launchers, machine guns, machine guns, small arms — they and people solve the problem,” Lukashenko said.
